Norton Studios

In this section you will see the pictorial story of the construction of the latest addition to the Studio/Workshop that is the home of Norton Garden Structures.

The building was designed by Stan Keeler, and the majority of the work has been carried out by him over several of years. At this time the building is all but finished and the interior is being completed.

This is a deviation from the normal materials used for garden structures.  The frame of the building is made in Douglas Fir from North America with timbers laminated to make the curved columns within the frame. The walls are made of SIPs, (Structural Insulated Panels), which in turn are clad in Siberian Larch. The roof is made of a different type of SIP with a plasterboard finish on the internal face, and finished in a clay tile.

The resulting building has enormous strength and meets current standards on insulation for structures of this type.

Apart from providing further office space for the business, the building also acts as a reference for potential clients to see the quality of design and construction that Norton Garden Structures aims to achieve. As all work has been bespoke there has never been reference for clients to see.
